Self Myofascial Release (SMR)
DAY
By the end of the course participants will be able to understand the concept of Self-Myofascial Release and the role of fascia within the body and reasons why it becomes tight and understanding the concept of trigger points. Participants will have an understanding of why SMR should be employed as well as when is most beneficial to use SMR. They will also gain an understanding of what happens during SMR within the tissue fibres. Participants will be able to identify suitable equipment to use and know how to perform SMR on various muscles within the body. And finally the participants will know some of the contraindications that would prevent a person from undertaking SMR.

Pre-Requisites
Minimum of Level 2 Gym Instructor, or Level 3 Personal Trainer. This course is also open to those able to show adequate prior learning for example, sports massage therapist, chiropractor, Â sport rehabilitator or physiotherapist.

*As this is a Practical based qualification you will need to be available to travel to our offices in Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland for practical tutorials and assessments.
