There are no prerequisites for the Functional Anatomy course, however this course is intended for fitness and wellness professionals seeking an advanced understanding of functional anatomy principles.
Section 1 – Introduction to Functional Anatomy and Exercise Science Review
A comprehensive overview of functional anatomy, including, the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. It also covers key biomechanical concepts essential for understanding human movement and motor behavior.
Additionally, this chapter explains how the human movement system learns and adapts to various demands.
Section 2 – Ankle and Foot
This chapter examines the anatomy and biomechanics of the foot and ankle complex, including an examination of bones, muscles, and other soft tissues. It details how altered foot and ankle mechanics can affect the rest of the kinetic chain and addresses common distortion patterns.
Section 3 – Knee
Explore the knee’s functional anatomy, its function within the kinetic chain, and prevalent distortion patterns and impairments. By understanding these elements, fitness professionals can better address knee-related issues and enhance overall movement efficiency.
Section 4 – Lumbopelvic Hip Complex
Delve into the functional anatomy of the lumbopelvic hip complex (LPHC), including how it transfers loads and ensures the stability of the body’s mid-region and core.
This chapter examines important anatomical structures of the spine and hips, and identifies common distortion patterns and movement impairments, providing fitness professionals with a deeper understanding to enhance client-specific training and reduce injury risk.
Section 5 – Shoulder Girdle
Examine the functional anatomy of the shoulder girdle by exploring bones, muscles, connective tissues, and joint motions of the scapulae and glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.

Final Exam
After completing the course, you will take an online final exam. The exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to score 70% or higher. The exam has no time limit, and unlimited exam attempts are allowed.
