Award in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Disability and Impairment
DEMAND
This qualification equips learners with the knowledge and skills to work inclusively with diverse participants – including those with disabilities and impairments – meeting the industry requirements set out in CIMSPA’s professional standards.
Learners will explore the Activity Inclusion Model (AIM) and Space Time Equipment People (STEP) model and learn how to keep adults and adults at risk safe from harm. Learners who choose the optional unit will also show their ability to work with participants with impairments, using a participant-centred approach to challenge and support them through modification, adaptation and progression.

A basic awareness of safeguarding adults and adults at risk

By completing this qualification, learners will have gained the essential underpinning knowledge to be able to adapt exercise and fitness sessions to ensure they are inclusive for adults disability and impairment.
In order to add the term ‘Practitioner’ to the Qualification Learners must also complete:
Award in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Disability and Impairment (Practitioner)
*Learners completing this unit will be acknowledged with the addition of the term ‘practitioner’ on their certificate to confirm that they have demonstrated relevant skills delivering exercise for this population.
