INTRODUCTION:
This qualification provides learners with knowledge and skills to apply reliable, evidence-based nutritional science and healthy eating recommendations.
Learners will gain an understanding of nutritional science and their application to exercise, sport and athletic performance. This includes the limitations and risks of supplements and performance aids, and the importance of hydration for sports performance.
Working within their scope of practice, learners will be able to support their clients in their understanding of the relevance of official guidelines to personal food preferences and needs, including for health and wellbeing, weight management and sports performance.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Learners must be aged 16+.
Learners must also hold either a level 3 nutrition qualification or a qualification that includes nutrition content at level 3 e.g. YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (Practitioner).
QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE:
The learner must complete:
• Unit 1: Applied nutrition for exercise, sport, and athletic performance
• Unit 2: Supplements, performance aids and hydration for sports performance
• Unit 3: Providing dietary advice to support the needs of different athletes and sports people
